Abstract: Background:The intestinal constipation (IC) is a polysymptomatic disease characterized by infrequent evacuations, its pathophysiology is complex and multifactorial, occurs predominantly in females (2:1) and affects all age groups. There are several factors that can help to minimize the effects of the IC, such as nutrition, hydration and physical exercises. The classical massage is a technique that uses rapid movements, repetitive and firm on the tissues. Through the mechanical pressure and the possibility of achieving all layers and tissues, this technique can stimulate the large intestine, accelerating the process of evacuation. Objective: This study aims to evaluate the effects of classical massage under the pathology and the repercussions on the quality of life of individuals with constipation.
Methodology: This is a study of character quasi experimental, before and after, descriptive and cross-sectional. It was carried out in the period from March to November 2014. Results:There was no improvement in the score of the criteria of Rome III, the frequency of evacuations increased, the SF-36 scores increased and the type of feces was mostly considered within the standard. Conclusion: Classic massage in this study a resource effective in treating constipation, with positive repercussions on the quality of life of these individuals.
