Abstract: Background: Chronic kidney disease has been progressively increasing and it is considered a public health problem. Part of those patients is unaware of the pathology due to the absence of symptoms in the early stages. Acupuncture and auriculotherapy is known to be influential on several physiological functions. Objective: To evaluate the influence of acupuncture and auriculotherapy on the parameters of urea and creatinine. Methodology: The sample consisted of a 48-year-old male volunteer. Two treatment cycles were performed, with 12 treatments each. Laboratory tests of urea and creatinine were used for evaluation. We used the Central Nervous System (Shen Men), Kidney and Vegetative Nervous System acupoints, K3 (Taixi), K6 (Zaohai) and K7 (Fuliu). Results: After the first cycle of acupuncture, blood tests showed a reduction of 28% in urea and 13% in creatinine. After the second acupuncture cycle, there was 10% reduction in urea and an 11% increase in creatinine. Conclusion: There were reductions in plasma urea and creatinine after the end of the first cycle of acupuncture, which did not replied at the end of the second cycle in the same proportion. Despite the data collected after the last stage of the study, beneficial effects were shown to the volunteer, when compared to the results of the laboratory tests, before the beginning of the proposed treatment. Thus, the efficacy of the proposed treatment was verified.
